About Me! (Personal)I am Christie Bishop. I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. My husband, daughter, son, and I currently live near Houston, Texas.
In July of 2013, I married my high school sweetheart, Kevin. He is an IT technician for another school district. We had our first daughter in December 2015 and our son in May 2019.
Though we are all in different places, family is a big part of my life. My mother (in Michigan) has supported me in everything I do. I have an identical twin sister (in Michigan) and a younger sister (in North Carolina), who both encourage me in my dreams and aspirations as well. My favorite color is pink. I love ladybugs and Star Wars. Teaching and learning takes up most of my life. When I'm not teaching, decorating my classroom, or planning for lessons, I enjoy hanging with my family and friends, singing, acting, crafts, listening to music, and watching movies/TV.
My Teaching Philosophy
|
About Me! (School/Teaching)I graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Michigan State University. In April 2012 I completed a yearlong internship in a 1st grade classroom. I always knew that MSU was where I wanted to go to college and I'm proud to have attended my mother's alma mater. GO STATE!!
I received a Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum from MSU in December 2016. In Dec. 2022 I completed my Principal Certification program at University of Texas at Arlington. Ever since I was a little girl playing school with my sisters and friends, I knew that someday I would be a teacher. My first year teaching I taught 3rd grade, then 7 years in 2nd grade, and 3 years in PreK. I was just recently named the new Math Instructional Coach for my campus.
My goals for my teaching are to make the lessons fun as well as informative. My musical/art background is an excellent strength to my teaching, because I can easily incorporate music and other fun activities into my lessons. I am very creative and teach using song, dance, art, and movement whenever possible. |
